about me & my photography

In an era when the technology in our cameras and computers makes almost anything achievable with photography I find that the photos effecting me the most powerfully do so less with sheer visual beauty and more with their ability to take me to a time in my own life. That connection of a photo to personal experiences and emotions is, in my opinion, the most powerful attribute of the art form.

With my photography I strive to capture the feeling of a particular moment as wholly as possible to place viewers directly into the scene and get them to feel the same thing I felt as I released the shutter. After over 10 years in photography my camera is an extension of myself and the act of capturing scenes of honest, real life with an artistic eye is simply my second nature. Social media and the internet as a whole are more about connections than ever before- between people worldwide, between people and their products, between products and their environment- these are the things that I try to emphasize and visually explain through my work. The questions I ask myself most often are these: how can I make someone see themselves in this same spot, and how can I motivate them to get out and actually make moments like these of their own?

Portraiture, weddings, editorial, lifestyle marketing- if you need it shot, I can do the shooting.

Note: A majority of the photos here are shot on 35mm film, scanned myself at a relatively low quality, and even processed myself when it comes to black and white. While I generally treat digital as the normal for client work, I am always game to discuss shooting any kind of job on film, and make it as clean looking or dirty as you desire with the multitude of labs available for high quality scans. There are extra costs involved as film costs money itself but there will never be an exact digital replication of the look different films provide.
